My 8th semester as a university student has come to an end. That means I have now completed 4 years of university, earning myself a 3 years degree in international development from La Trobe University in Australia and a 4th year non-degree arts honours equivalent from the University of Guelph here in Canada in addition. My time as an undergraduate student is thus over.
What’s next?
I intend to apply for graduate school; preferably a degree that enables me to get hold of an interesting job. A choice of what degree to choose will be made over the holydays and in January. Application deadlines are around end of January. While the application is being processed, I will likely work for a period or two in Norway; travel to a “developing” country; read and write and share my thoughts; and relax the coming 8 months until school starts again next fall. That’s somewhat the plan anyway.
And the blog?
My activity at this citizen journalism blog will most likely decline, but I have come to like blogging quite a bit. Most likely therefore, I will continue the blog but most likely change the focus to more general and personal interest stuff.
My gratitude
Thank you Professor Roberts, for making citizen journalism part of this course. The philosophy of “learning by doing” is a favourite of mine, and I feel I have indeed done and learned a lot this semester. Not only the blogging, but also public speaking (in the classroom) and interviewing people at the Royal were great learning experiences. Again, thank you.
Kent, thank you for your kind words.
I appreciated having you as part of our agricultural communications class, and I’m sure your classmates did, too.
Your blog shows how much of a genuine interest you took in learning and communicating. It was exemplary, and I’m glad you plan to keep it up. I’ll keep an eye on it and I’ll look forward to watching your career develop.
Best regards,
Prof. Roberts
